  • 24 thawed Rhodes white dinner rolls
  • 21 oz can apple pie filling
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (more as needed)
  • Oil for frying (canola or vegetable)
  • 6 cups powdered sugar
  • ¾ cup milk (or apple juice)
  • 1½ tsp maple extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Thaw the dinner rolls on a greased sheet tray for 2-3 hours or overnight in the fridge.
  2. Cut each roll into six pieces. Chop apples from the filling into smaller chunks.
  3. Combine roll pieces, apples, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Knead until they form a cohesive dough.
  4. Shape the dough into 16 pieces, flatten them slightly, and let rise covered for one hour.
  5. Heat oil to 350°F and fry fritters until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Prepare the glaze while fritters are warm; dip each fritter into the glaze and let set on a cooling rack.
