  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ onion (minced)
  • 2 cups button mushrooms (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ cup pitted black olives
  • 1 pound puff pastry
  • Mustard (to taste)
  • 1 egg (beaten)

Instructions

  1. Begin by cutting the beef into 1-inch pieces and seasoning with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Brown half of the beef pieces for about 1-2 minutes until seared, then transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. In the same skillet, add more oil if necessary and sauté minced onions and chopped mushrooms for about 10 minutes until softened. Stir in soy sauce and olives, mixing well.
  4. Process the mixture in a food processor until smooth.
  5. Roll out puff pastry into squares, add mustard, mushroom mixture, and a piece of beef to each square, folding the corners to seal.
  6. Brush with beaten egg and bake at 400°F for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
