  • 110 g whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 20 g unsalted butter (for the dough)
  • 80 g unsalted butter (for layering)
  • 1 tablespoon orange marmalade
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon milk)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, egg, milk, and vanilla. Mix until a rough dough forms; let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Add sugar and salt; mix well and rest again for another 10 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the first amount of butter until smooth; refrigerate for one hour.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the second amount of softened butter evenly on top.
  5. Fold the dough into quarters; refrigerate for another hour.
  6. Roll out again into a rectangle and cut into triangles.
  7. Roll each triangle tightly from the base to form cornetti shapes; place on a lined baking tray.
  8. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar; let rise until doubled in size (about 30 minutes).
  9. Bake at 180°C (356°F) for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
