  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup dutch processed cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Optional: 1-2 tbsp cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Soak chopped medjool dates in boiling water for 15 minutes.
  2. Mix softened butter and brown sugar until creamy; add eggs one by one, blending well.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Combine soaked dates with wet mixture; gradually fold in dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Pour into a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes or until set.
  6. While baking, prepare the toffee sauce by melting butter with brown sugar, then stirring in cream and dark chocolate until smooth.
  7. Let pudding cool slightly before serving; drizzle warm toffee sauce over slices.
