- 3/4 cup boiling milk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup dutch processed cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup cream
- 1 cup milk
- 200g dark chocolate
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Optional: 1-2 tbsp cocoa powder
Instructions
- Soak chopped medjool dates in boiling water for 15 minutes.
- Mix softened butter and brown sugar until creamy; add eggs one by one, blending well.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine soaked dates with wet mixture; gradually fold in dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Pour into a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes or until set.
- While baking, prepare the toffee sauce by melting butter with brown sugar, then stirring in cream and dark chocolate until smooth.
