  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 12 tbsp milk (as needed for glaze consistency)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for glaze)
  • Pinch of salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar using a hand mixer until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
  2. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup; mix until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt; gradually combine with the wet mixture until just mixed.
  4. Chill the dough covered for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll chilled dough into balls (1½ tablespoons each) and place them on prepared sheets.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden; cool before glazing.
  8. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar with maple syrup and melted butter; adjust consistency with milk if needed.
