  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together room temperature butter and maple sugar until fluffy. Add powdered sugar, maple syrup, and maple extract; mix until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually blend into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
  4. Chill the dough for 30 minutes, then roll out on a floured surface to 1/8" thickness.
  5. Cut out cookie shapes with a maple leaf cutter and place on prepared sheets.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden; cool completely on wire racks.
  7. For the filling, beat together butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  8. Assemble by spreading filling between two cooled cookies.
