  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs, room temperature
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  2. In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy (about 5–7 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Alternately mix in the sifted flour and whole milk, starting and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the pure vanilla extract and optional almond extract.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 25–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 15–20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
