  • 1/2 cup liquid glucose or light corn syrup
  • A few drops of black gel food coloring
  • 6 Granny Smith apples

Instructions

  2. Insert bamboo skewers into each apple for easy handling.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, glucose (or corn syrup), and black food coloring over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  4. Allow the mixture to simmer without stirring; use a wet brush to wash down any sugar crystals from the pot's sides.
  5. Cook until the mixture reaches hard crack stage (150ºC/310ºF).
  6. Carefully dip each apple into the caramel mixture, ensuring even coverage.
  7. Place dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet and let them cool completely.
