  • 1 cup sour cream
  • For Frosting: 1 1/4 cups butter, softened
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • chopped maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray two 9-inch cake pans with non-stick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and creamy. Add softened butter and almond extract; mix well.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in sour cream until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 23-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
