  • 1 ⅓ cups granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1 ½ cups egg whites (about 12)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons cream of tartar
  • ¼ teaspoon clear vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  5. Gently fold the flour mixture into the egg whites in four additions without deflating the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan.
  7. Bake for about 30-35 minutes until golden and springs back when touched.
  8. Cool upside down on a wire rack before serving.
