  • 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup corn syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, milk, and salt; bring to a boil while stirring. Pour syrup into the prepared dish.
  3. Arrange challah slices over the syrup in the dish.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt; pour evenly over the bread.
  5. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight (8 hours minimum).
  6. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) while keeping it covered. Bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle on top after removing foil. Bake uncovered for an additional 40 minutes or until golden.
